GETTING AROUND
When in Morocco, you have various transportation options to explore the country's diverse landscapes, vibrant cities, and rich cultural heritage. Taxis are the most used mode of transport for both locals and tourists. If you have more time, you can also enjoy the convenience of trains, rental cars, and ferries to visit other cities in Morocco or even take a day trip to Spain.
AIRPORTS
Morocco has 17. airports located in cities like Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, Fes, Rabat, Tétouan and Tangier, offering convenient access for domestic and international travellers. You will find tax-free shops, cafes, and several types of shops often with traditional Moroccan handcraft and food products, but it will mostly be in the bigger airports as in Casablanca and Marrakech you will have a verity of shops. Most airports are situated near cities, requiring a taxi to the nearest train, bus, or your destination.
FERRIES
Morocco's ports provide convenient access to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. With numerous routes and a wide selection of ferry travel agencies. Ports like Tanger, Tanger MED, Nador, and Al Hoceima offer connections to cities such as Malaga, Barcelona, Tarifa, Motril, Almeria, Algeciras in Spain, Marseille, Sete in France, and Genoa, Rome in Italy. In the Spanish parts of Morocco, Melilla, and Ceuta, you can also find ferry connections to Algeciras, Malaga, Almeria, and Motril in Spain, Europe. Keep in mind that Tanger has two ports, MED is one hour from the city.
TAXIS
Taxis in Morocco are a popular and cheap way of transportation, offering two main types: "Petit taxis" and "Grand taxis." Petit taxis, are in specific colours depending on the city, and can carry up to three passengers heading in the same direction. They operate within city limits. Grand taxis are white and can accommodate up to six passengers who share the taxi, or you can pay extra. They follow fixed routes within cities and can also travel between cities for a fixed price. Grand taxis are authorized to be present at airports, train stations, ferry ports, and bus stations.
BUSSES
Morocco's well-established bus network, operated by CTM, connects major cities in Morocco. CTM buses provide WIFI, numbered seats, and fixed schedules. Bus tickets are cheap and can be purchased online or at the bus station. SATAS (south) and Trans Ghazala (north) are reputable companies like CTM. Smaller private companies may be less reliable. You often pay 5 - 10dh for your baggage which is based on weight and distance. Most cities have central bus stations, often out of the city, while local buses operate within cities are less luxurious, but reliable.
TRAINS
Morocco has a well-developed railway system operated by the national railway operator ONCF, where you also can buy your tickets online. The ONCF trains offer immense comfort and facilities, making it one of the most comfortable and cheap way of travel in Morocco. The high-speed rail linking Tangier and Casablanca, also stops in cities as Rabat and Kenitra and from Casablanca, you can continue to Marrakech. From Tanger, you can take the high-speed train to Kenitra and from here go to Fes, from where you also can go to Casablanca and Oujda.
CARS
Morocco has a well-connected network of highways (fee) and national roads, allowing convenient travel throughout the country. Car rentals are therefore also a popular choice among tourists, especially for those experienced in navigating in the chaotic traffic. Reputable companies like Hertz, Europcar, and Sixt, as well as local agencies, offer car rental services. To ensure a competitive rate, it's recommended to book your rental car at least two days in advance or through your travel agency.

SHOPPING

While shopping in the Old Medina, exercise caution as some shops may sell counterfeit goods. FOOD MARKET'S
In Morocco, the vibrant souks offer a delightful shopping experience with fresh food and a variety of other goods. Additionally, if you’re a seafood enthusiast, the fish markets offer an abundance of fresh fish. Morocco’s vibrant markets are a must-visit for a truly immersive, flavourful, and culinary experience. You will find many small and bigger supermarkets as the French Carrefour, Spanish Atacadao and Morocco’s own Marjane.
HANDCRAFT
From jewellery, pottery, puffs to basketry, blankets, carpets, you’ll find an array of exquisite handmade items all over Morocco. The Old medinas offers a unique shopping experience where you often must negotiate the best price. The affordability of traditional handicrafts is remarkable, making it a fantastic opportunity to bring home authentic treasures. Many shops also offer shipping services, allowing you to easily transport larger items or arrange for personalized designs.
ALCOHOL SHOPS
Alcohol can only be purchased from special shops and larger supermarkets. It is prohibited to consume alcohol in public. During Ramadan, alcohol availability may be limited, and only foreigners can purchase. Morocco has local beer brands, as Casablanca (Lager), Flag (Pilsner), and Stork (Light Lager). Wine production focuses primarily on red grape varieties, as Carignan, Alicante, Syrah, Tempranillo, Grenache, and Cinsaut. Meknes is known for producing premium Chardonnays. Lastly, try Mahia.
CAFÉS
You will find a lot of traditional Moroccan cafes wherever you travel, that serves the famous mynte tea and coffee as well as local dishes, which you must try while you are visiting. In the bigger cities you will find many international inspired cafes – not only in relation to the interior – but also when it comes to what you will find on the menu / drinks (non-alcohol) card, the background music as well as the cliental and opening hours.
RESTAURANTS
While exploring Morocco, be sure to visit traditional Moroccan restaurants for the delicious cuisine. These establishments not only offer delectable dishes but also provide an authentic ambiance with traditional interiors and local music. In larger cities, you’ll also find a variety of international restaurants serving international cuisines, such as French, Spanish, Italian, Thai, and English. Some establishments may serve alcohol, but it’s advisable to check beforehand.
BARS
You will be able to find several bars in the bigger cities also some that sells alcohol and where there will be an international inspired interior. The alcohol is often expensive because you are in a Muslim country, but you will find many of the international brands you know. NIGHTCLUBS
For those who love dancing, Morocco offers a vibrant nightlife scene in its major cities. You’ll find numerous venues where you can go out and enjoy yourself.
